Thanksgiving break is over and for college students that means it’s almost time to cram. Finals week here at GW goes until Dec. 21st. Don’t forget during this time to also prepare for Christmas as the coming of Jesus into our world. If you take the time to do that, you may find that all the other activities are more easier to handle.
I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who as been with us this semester. Thank you to the St. Stephen’s parish community, the GWU community, parents, alumni, and especially our students. Thank you for all you do, and I also want to extend an invitation to any student to try something new here a the Newman center next semester. My biggest thanks goes to God who has called me to this ministry and vocation.
I have just returned from the archdiocese priest convocation, a gathering of all the priests of our archdiocese. We spent three days together in brotherhood; diverse ages, backgrounds, education, experiences, etc., but one local church. Which reminded me strongly that we are all baptised into the one universal church, something that you can easily see in ministry at an international university. We need to recall that we are not members as in a club, but members of a body, the body of Christ. We are called to holiness not just for our own sake but for the sake of that body also. When we are raised up to God we help raise up the church and through the church raise up the world.
