remembering lucille

Our neighbor Lucille passed away monday. Some students know her and used to visit her with Alecia. She is going to be buried in Michigan, but had asked for a service at the Newman Center. On Sunday July 13 at 3pm we will do a wake at the newman center followed by a chance for people to share memories of Lucille. If anyone who is out of town would like to have something read you can email me.

so it begins

We had our first group of CI students come through campus this weekend. We met some new people. Hopefully we didn’t scare them off. We have our pamphlets for the upcoming year printed, but we still need a T shirt idea for the new school year. Any ideas? If you happen to pass through during the summer feel free to drop by, especially Tuesday night for dinner. You can meet some new people, interns from other universities working here for the summer.

summer thinking

Summer has effectively started here even if the solstice hasn’t come yet. There are still a few events going on here; noon Mass, Tuesday dinner, and of course tabling at CI. Mainly summer for us is getting ready for the fall. In the planning here are two of the ideas I am working on; putting together a prayer book of prayers written by members of the Newman center, and a “sounding board” of people who will look the the next Sundays readings and with whom I will discuss homily ideas and see if there is anything going on on campus that should be brought in. The details of these and other ideas are still to be worked out, but if you have any input on these or other ideas feel free to e-mail us or visit if you are in the area.
